Robert Nickford

In 1964, fresh out of high school, I got a summer job at Laval Records, a one-stop sub-distributor and independent producer where I met for the first time Tony Roman and his buddy René Angélil (Céline Dion’s future manager).

Over the years I held key promotion positions with Quality Records of Canada, Atlantic Records, Warner Bros Records and its affiliate labels which produced many memorable connections and presented the opportunity to work intimately with several music legends such as:
Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, Otis Redding, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and many more.
In the early 70’s I launched my own indie label, Kot'ai Music, to record and promote singer songwriter Jesse Winchester. Things didn’t turn out quite as I had expected.
